Just a Dream
(As published in Sunflowers and Seashells Pathways, 2010, Eber & Weinstein Publishing)
When pixies taunted and played, poked
Prodding to see the sleeping beauty
Lying in fields of baby’s breath
Rain beating fiercely down upon
The jonquil waiting for you
With trees howling in sharp winds of faith
Bending to and fro but unyielding like this
Feeling within me, a fit of faith
Where faith did not exist in time
Awaken me from a slumber of fairies
Lying in the meadows of wounded hearts
Lift me in to hero arms and save the
Monkshood and narcissus for another day.
Shower me in roses of every color
And kisses of violets, white and blue
Stay standing by my side
As I wake and wait to see the ivy
Growing up castle walls into
Rooms of kings and queens
Divine lords and ladies dancing
Give me a kiss through time, a light touch
In a storm, gentle breezes caress me
Whisper sweet nothings into my soul
Bringing tears of tulips — it was just a dream.
