A woman screams of demons attacking

A man yells at her to shut up

Sirens blaring — the children wake in terror

it’s happening again — the fear grips us

As they take mother away

and the little girls screams — NO!!!

Flashbacks to a time long ago

we pretend it never happened

shuffled off to neighboring homes

in the middle of the night

like refugees escaping war

our home the battle ground

Images burnt in my mind

the old white police officer

walking up the stairs

a grandpa telling me it will be ok

it never was, not for long any way

“Don’t take her”

A little girl pleads; Mother is sick they say

it won’t be for long they claim

she comes home, and all is quiet

A woman screams of demons attacking

It’s happening again.
