We all look the same
He shouts in the train car
While others laugh
The homeless man spouting
Words of hope, encouragement
“In Jesus’s name” — I don’t believe in Jesus
But the Universe tells me this:
Inside we are all equally made up
Of star dust and energy, eternally one
We all are the same if you look
Hard in my eyes
You’ll see his soul and mine holding hands
Tied by threads created by an eternal
Source of life — elements crossing
Like limbs stretched out
Not on a cross but Vitruvian Man
We are all the same
He shouts amidst laughter
People pulling away as he wishes
Them a blessed day
And you judge him as others judge you
Don’t you see how right he is?
We truly are all the same.
